FAQ's
To my dearest guest,
I welcome you to St. Mark's, a Catholic website dedicated to teaching the Catholic Faith with claritas et caritas (clarity and charity)!
Who is the Website named after?
It is named after St. Mark the Evangelist, the same who authored the Gospel of St. Mark. He is also the same Mark mentioned by St. Peter (1 Pet. 5:13) and also is believed to be the person mentioned in Acts as John Mark (12:12; 12:25; 15:37; 15:39) and he is also mentioned in the following Pauline Epistles: Colossians. 4:10, 2 Timothy 4:11 & Philemon 1:24.
Why is it named after St. Mark?
St. Mark is one of my Patron Saints and the first Saint who I am named after. I named the Website after him as an act of honour and devotion to him.
What did St. Mark do?
Apart from writing his Gospel, St. Mark was the secretary to St. Peter and it was under his guidance and authority that St. Mark wrote his Gospel for the Roman Church. St. Mark recorded the teachings of St. Peter and compiled them as his Gospel. After this, he was consecrated as Bishop and sent to Alexandria in Egypt to be its first Bishop and spread the True Faith in Egypt and Africa.
How did St. Mark die?
Like most of the early Christians, St. Mark was martyred for the Faith. He was dragged through the streets of Alexandria with a rope around his neck and pulled by a horse.
Does the Website have other Patrons apart from St. Mark?
Yes. The Website takes the following as its Patrons: The Sacred Heart of Jesus, the Blessed Virgin Mary under her titles of Our Lady of Fatima, Our Lady of Mt. Carmel and Our Lady of the Holy Rosary, St. Pius V, St. Pius X, St. Robert Bellarmine, St. Michael the Archangel, my Guardian Angel and St. Teresa of the Child Jesus. St. Mark's has its own Calendar of Saints that it feels an attachment to. One can view the Calendar on this Page.
What does "Extra Ecclesiam Nulla Salus" mean?
The phrase is Latin for "outside the Church there is no salvation". It is a dogma of the Catholic Church that salvation cannot be found anywhere except in the Catholic Church.
Why does the Logo have a lion on it?
St. Mark is traditionally depicted as a lion in Catholic iconography, usually with wings.
And let us follow the teaching of St. Paul and offer prayers, intercessions and thanksgivings to the Lord for our families, our friends and for the Church, but especially for the Holy Father. And may God bless him and make him blessed upon earth and exalt him to a heavenly place with all the Saints! And may God bless you all, and the Saints pray for you.
God save the Pope! God bless Rome!
Pax Christi,
St. Mark
